Day 2 - Gaspe, Quebec [Campbellton, NB]

Monday, August 22, 2011

Today we woke up at 6 in the morning, which is pretty much 5 in Ontario. According to both my parents, we'll have to wake up that early everyday while we're here. ;A; Anway, ate breakfast in the hotel, cereal... fruit loops. With milk! :'D and also drank apple juice and then I was full. (I don't eat much in the morning).

So we left as e planned. Where to, you ask? To Gaspe in Quebec! (The e in gaspe is supposed to have an accent going like /) My dad's friend said it was a beautiful place to visit so of course, while we're here, we're taking the chance to go there too. BUT it takes 5 hours to get there from where I forgot to state where we were yesterday--Campbellton. So to not waste time, we left after eating, which was 7. We crossed the bridge again, to Quebec and took a few pictures of the bridge from Quebec's point of view. Well, it looked better in real life.

We drove to an information center thing but noooooo it was closed  because it was only 7. But it doesn't matter. I managed to take a few nice pictures of things that were there. And bsides, we were able to get a map and tour guide book of Gaspesie. Oh, while I was taking a picture of something, I suddenly saw some random black thing run out of the flowers and run back in. I was, sadly, no able to see what it was but I thought it was cute how it ran out, noticed there were people, then ran back in. XD Anyway, while at the information center it started raining, and even though I don't like rain too much, it didn't ruin our mood. We ran back tot he car and began our 5 hour adventure to Gaspe!

Along the way, we were listening to the radio. Many tragic things happened, it has seem, in Canada. So first off, heard Toronto has a tornado and one person died from it? The storm must have been nasty. And then I saw 2 dead deers on the street. I'd show you a picture, but we passed  by them both so fast that I wasn't able to get my camera. Then on the radio, I heard there was a plane crash and 15 people died... with 3 survivors. ): I'm actually quite scared of plane rides  because of the crashing but. But of course, it's best not to think that. THEN. I heard that Jack Layton died at the age of 61, because he has lost the battle against the cancer he had. ): make that 2 cancers. I looked at the picture of him before and after getting cancer and he looked really sick. It's a sad thing. I liked Jack Layton. Well, it was just the mustache he had but it doesn't matter! Anyway, RIP to the person who died from tornado, the deers, the people in the plane crash, and Jack Layton.

We also saw many new beautiful scenery and things while we were listening to french songs. We saw a rock! Okay, it's just a rock, I know that, what's so important about a rock?? The important bit is that it's a rock... with a hole in it! -gasp- There were people beside us and when we helped them take pictures and vice versa, the guy was like "I don't know why everyone goes crazy for the hole! I mean we buy a doughnut, and we pay for the hole!" well, I don't quite remember what he said but something like that. It was funny. (:

And off we were again, listening to songs and twisting and turning left a small area and came across these really pretty(?) rocks that go way up high. And then the mountain on the other side were just as beautiful. Thankfully it wasn't raining so much but the fog/clouds looked really nice! It matched the small area really well. It gave a fresh, mysterious, yet calm feeling.

Making our way across another bridge, we've reached Gaspe at 11:30 (ontario tie) and boy! It looked really cute from the other side. LOL. Well, it looked better in person. Cameras and pictures don't really capture all the beauty that the human eye can see. But it's better than nothing. heh, just a side story: (Stopped at Tim Horton's for a washroom break and because dad wanted coffee. The car beside had a girl smoking. She was almost done so whatever. We went in and came out within 5 minutes and the girl was done! ;D But then after getting in the car for a minute, she pulled out another one and started smoking again. |: .....bad....)

Took another half an hour to go to Forillon Park, a national park. We weren't completely there but when I looked out the window it was like... vroom! A vast of trees! All you could see were trees, there was almost no holes in between or anything! Just trees. It was beautiful. :'D We went past the inside of the park to prevent wasting too much time, since we were going the long way round which takes 3 hours to get where we're going from the park, then turn into some mountain path thing. But we were able to see the SAINT LAWRENCE RIVER! It was... indescribably beautiful. It was so blue. It touched the sky! Not only those but it was big! According to the Gaspesie map, you may even be able to see a whale if you wait long enough. But no time to waste. And I know it's all beautiful but I had to keep reminding my parents that New Brunswick is an hour ahead of where we are because they kept stopping and getting off the car to take pictures.

So it started raining heavily again along the way to Mont-Saint-Pierce, where we were supposed to turn, but my dad got scared it wouldn't meet a certain road so we kept going. I was sleeping through most of the storm but my dad woke me up when he was telling my mother to take pictures of the st. lawrence river. So I woke up and found that the mountains were beautiful too, as did my dad, so we decided to get out the car in the middle of the road. The mountain was beautiful and then suddenly the rain almost stopped and the sun came out. We were still taking pictures and then suddenly there was a rainbow and call us crazy if you want, but it was so beautiful and vivid that we all started screaming. This was when we were almost near Gros-Morne. I'm not sure if it was because of us, the vibration of movement from cars passing by, or the little rain that was still coming down, but the little rocks slid down from the mountain. The sound itself of the rock rolling down made my parents and I freeze and look. I was freak for a second and was about to run to the car until I noticed that it wasn't bit. I just went back to the rainbow. But really, I think it's a moment where we had to thank God for the beautiful rainbow. It felt like a sign... a good sign. :) I know it's a promise from God, but it felt like a sign as well. Funny enough, when we got out the car the rainbow appeared, but when we left, the rainbow started fading away. You ever see those water that comes out from the rocks? They're beautiful too. (: Pure waterrr~

-Driving home for Christmasssssssss- sorry, not really for Christmas... and not really driving home. Just felt like saying that because we were on the road. YEP. 3 Hours, going through trees on the road with many signs of warning telling us to be careful of MOOSES.. mooses? Moose. (: I wanted to see one... sadly I was unable to. But you know, the air was FRESH. And it was a beautiful place. It was worth the drive in my opinion. The small stream beside had mist floating up that made it look even more beautiful. I'm sad to be unable to share these images and beautiful scenery but it's more like something you need to see and experience yourself. SO. Go google it instead. Although it'll be hard to because I don't quite know where we went down. Oh, some.. road... 299.... something like that. LOL. There was also a flood.. ish. LOL it smells like coffee.. XD i'm kidding.

BUT YEP! Wasn't able to eat the chinese buffet thing. ): so last resort??? ;A; McDonald. That's the end of day 2. (:
Jacqueline out.
By the way, the "I see you" thing when coming out the shower:

Sorry they're a little unclear, but better than nothing right? XD
