Day 5 - Halifax, NS [Dartmouth, NS]

Thursday, August 25, 2011

This morning, something extremely frightening happened. You can let your mind go wild, because I won't be telling you. (: But my parents and I woke up at around 4:30 and wasn't able to go back to sleep until around 4:45 because of this incident. So I mean, it's reasonable we slept in until around 7:30, right? ;D Anyway, breakfast in the hotel we stayed at started at 8, so it's all good. The breakfast area was big! It was a lot bigger than the past 2 hotels we stayed at. They provided more food for us too. I'd say that the hotel we stayed at was a good place. (: Too bad the business there isn't so good; or so the manager explains. I think the place is rather nice.

the ferry.
Anyway, at around 9:30 we setted off towards the Wood Island Ferry Terminal which would take us (and our car) to Nova Scotia! There were a lot of people on the ship, and a lot of vehicles that come in all different sizes, and different places. P: The trip was about 75 minutes, but compared to classes in school, the ferry felt a whole lot shorter. ;A; Some people even brought their dog in the ferry ride. XD I even saw one person bring in their cat too. Pets are adorable. One person's dog was afraid to go down the stairs so the owner picked them up and brought them down. I thought to myself, "what a very nice owner".

red road!
12:49, the ferry arrived at the terminal in Nova Scotia and off we went! Have you ever seen the highway road red? Yeah, it was blushing for me. :) HAHAHA I'm kidding. The stones they used to make the highway was red. I heard they used to do that in Toronto, but not any more. While on the highway, it's like first it's red and then BAM, suddenly there's a line where the red road stops and it's all black, and then BAM, it changes to red again. Sometimes you'd find that the highway on your side is red and on the other side it's black. But then again, Nova Scotia isn't the only place where you see red roads. I think the soil here is also red. I must like red for always talking about red. It's not even that unique anymore since I keep talking about it. heh. You know what colour the soil should be in Ontario? Blue, yes. Blue. That would be cool.

hotel room.
hotel
We headed towards Dartmouth, to Quality Inn. It's so nice in here! They literally supplied you with everything. They give you a TV, microwave, fridge, wifi, and they have those DVD things. How nice. (: We're on the top floor too! ;o even better. XD to some point, at least.

the bridge to halifax
... what it says on the sign.
We crossed a bridge from Dartmouth to Halifax. Had to pay $1, to and back. We headed off towards Halifax Citadel. It's really high up. :S I was quite tired by the time I made it to the top. But it's because I'm not so fit. P: heh heh. Yeah! Unfortunately we didn't go inside though. We only put in 40 minutes for parking for the car, and we didn't want to pay to go in anyway. I don't really know what the Halifax Citadel is anyway... I managed to see them switch guards and watch some random hollering back and forth though! Didn't quite catch what they were saying though.

market
gelato (;
Forget the Citadel, my parents came across another farmer's market. >o<" what did we do? Pay for parking and went in of course. But it was pretty much closing time!! So now what? Walked a bit anway, but many stores were closed and empty. OH! I saw some GELATO. (: -wink wink teenie- looked good. ;o We were getting hungry, and we just so happened to see a fish and chip shop. Heck load of oil. But ate it nonetheless, after absorbing some oil off with a tissue of course. I wouldn't say it's delicious, but it wasn't bad either. It managed to keep my hunger down just a bit. Besides, it wasn't time for dinner at 5 anyway.

some guy.
teh wave.
To burn off the fat!.... no, I'm kidding. We had another hour left, so we went for a walk on the platforms and pavement along the waterside. There were a lot of private properties that randomly stick out farther towards the water. I also saw this guy. LOL. What guy. A guy pulling some things other people ride in. Yesterday, I saw a  horse carriage thing, today I see a guy pulling some cart. I didn't manage to capture it when I saw him again, but he flew up so that the chair rocked to the very back and he was basically in the sky on the bar. Then he came back down. Man, dangerous. I would've been scared if i was riding. I also came across some built wave beside a store... Or information center, whatever that building was. There happened to be someone on it and  people waking under it, so I'm like "teh wave gonna nomnom you!" LOL, I was just being a kid.

peggy's cove
THEN THERE WAS PEGGY'S COVE TO VISIT. My long lost sister. I kid, it's a place where there are loads and loads of rocks and sometimes the waves from the Atlantic Ocean would splash against it. We got there around 7, thinking it was late... but when we left, there were still a lot of people coming. There was also a light house there, called the Peggy Point Lighthouse... or something like that. It's a beautiful place with beautiful scenery. I'm not even joking. WE ALSO HAPPENED TO SEE ANOTHER RAINBOW. Slightly fainter than the first one we saw days ago, but it's still pretty. At the same time, there was also a sunset. Omgsh the sunset was so pretty. Actually, is it even a sunset? LOL I don't really see the sun......... But I think the moon was out. It was all behind the clouds. BUT STILL BEE-YOU-TI-FUL.
sunset(?)

8:30, we got back to Halifax for some CHINESEY DINDIN. We ate it like a nom nom nom nom. It was quite tasty. ;o soup, fried rice and Cantonese Chow Mein! 8D The waitress there was really nice too. (: She had gooooood manners. I'd give her tipsy, but I don't make money (yet...) and I wasn't the one paying. P:

meh soup.
meh food.
Anyway, today was a good, busy day. Hope the weather in Ontario is a lot better now!
Kay, it's time to go.
Goodnight all!
Jacqueline out.

PS. The license plate... I shall upload them when I have more time to blur out the numbers and letters and etc.
